Winter is here

It looks set to be a very chilly winter this year and scarf season has well and truly arrived. On these frosty days, as I brace myself for the early morning dog walk, I layer up in my dads old jumpers, lace up my trusty walking boots, throw on a waterproof and finish the look off with a handwoven scarf. It’s not always the most coordinated of outfits but it certainly keeps me and the bump warm.

With the arrival of my first studio assistant due in early February next year, I am slowly winding down the studio. The large and light filled space I had called my home and workshop for the last three years is now in the hands of my best friend. Thankfully she is letting me keep my loom there temporarily while my attention is switched to all things baby. I’ve woven my last scarf warp for the time being and it’s just commission work that will go on now in the run up to Christmas. By the end of the year I probably won’t be able to fit my ever expanding bump into the loom anyways!

I have one more fair coming up on the 1st of December in Hay-on-Wye, where I will be joining a host of other lovely makers for the Hay Winter Festival Artisan Market. I’ve also dropped off lots of pieces to the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsman shop in Cheltenham. And if you can’t make it to either of those then you will find the full range of scarves in the online store and be able to take advantage of free UK shipping until Christmas. Last orders need to be with me by the 18th December.

Certain colourways are now very limited, so if you have asked Santa for a particular scarf then it’s probably best to chase him up so you aren’t disappointed come Christmas morning.

I’ll be starting my maternity break at the start of 2020 but have plans to be back exhibiting by Autumn next year and should hopefully have a few workshops by then too. You’ll still be able to find my work at The Guild at 51 and the online store will remain open throughout my maternity. So for now, enjoy those beautiful frosty mornings and don’t forget to wrap up warm.
